I've read some brief posts on it, but its not clear to me. I recently removed my 72AL and purchased a complete grid system and have followed the instructions to the best of my understanding.I have a very basic super pro set-up B&M pro-stick plunger style shifter, TCI PG trans brake, MSD Crank trigger, Auto Meter Sport Comp Play Back Monster Tach, MSD HVCII Coil and a Dedenbear Model SCC1 Delay Box. The System Controller can also be used with other MSD Ignitions such as the 7AL-2, MSD … The Power Grid system is all-inclusive with the 7730 Power Grid controller and the 7720 dedicated Power Grid-7 ignition box. The MSD can be used with 18 volt batteries and can withstand a momentary 24 volts in case of jump starts. MSD says the biggest card you can use with the Grid is a 8GB, Class 10 Card so keep that in mind when getting one. I'm replacing a dizzy with a new MSD crank trigger and need to understand how to set the base crank trigger timing with the existing Grid. There is no way to bypass or turn off the Grid timing control so setting base timing via the crank trigger with the engine running won't work. Just for reference, this is the most up to date revision for MSD View, MSD ReView and the MSD Firmware Software released. Page 1 An MSD Power Grid 7 Ignition Control will operate on any negative ground, 12 volt electrical system with a distributor. MSD Software / Firmware Version Information. The MSD Timing Retard, PN 8168 has a Tach output terminal that pro-vides a 12 volt square wave signal. 7720 and 7730 MSD Power Grid Installation Diagram, Eliminates the 7AL or 6AL Box Published May 30, 2017 When you buy both the 7720-7730 they plug-in to each other like this: (It should be pretty easy install.) The instructions tell what each wire on every plug powers or monitors, as well as walking the user through the programming and use of each of the many functions that this system provides. GRID Tach Lead GRAY - TACH Figure 7 Wiring a Tachometer with the Tach Converter. The System Controller can also be used with other MSD Ignitions such as the 7AL-2, MSD 8-Plus, and the Pro-Mag series. This is a high output CD ignition control. 4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MSD IGNITION • WWW.MSDIGNITION.COM • (915) 857-5200 • FAX (915) 857-3344 MOUNTING The Power Grid System Controller should be mounted in a sturdy, dry location that does not expose the unit to extreme heat. MSD provides great instructions with respect to the wiring of the PowerGrid. The Ignition System allows for the System Controller to be mounted on top of the Power Grid-7 to save space and provide a neat, compact installation. Controller to be mountedon top of the Power Grid-7 to save space and providea neat, compact installation. MSD says previous units were rated at 190 millijoules vs. Power Grid’s 200 millijoules. It is designed to be mounted on top of the PN 7720 Power Grid Ignition. The Ignitions will deliver full voltage with a supply of 10 - 18 volts and will operate with a supply voltage as low as five volts.
